It is supposed to be a celebration of the life of one of the biggest businessmen in Africa. As for me, June 12 is only a reminder of the Late Moshood Kasimawo Olawale Abiola, popularly known as MKO Abiola. Unfortunately, the so-called dividends of democracy we wanted seems elusive till date.

Before you call for my head and label me a wailing wailer, consider the current situation of the country and ask yourself if we are anything close to what we envisaged before the promised "change" even if we didn't ask for the kind of change before casting votes.

Corruption has also become a bit more hidden and reserved for some people. It has not reduced in any way. If not, ask yourself what former governors that have allegedly had looted monies recovered from them doing in the National Assembly. Have you asked yourself where Babachir Lawal is? Where are the recovered funds from Abacha's loot and EFCC's efforts. 

On insecurity, several government officials have claimed to have defeated the BH guys but killings and banditry have escalated drastically in the last 6 years. Ask people in Katsina and southern Kaduna for more. 

Our borrowings have gone over the roof in the last 5 years and we can only wait to see what the monies have been used for, besides acquiring bulletproof cars for supposed lawmakers.
