Chronicles of Cross River Experience - The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
As a lover of life and upcoming socialite, I look forward to every opportunity to parry. This time, it came from the "unlikeliest" source as I had to attend a funeral in Obanliku, Cross River State, Nigeria. Besides, the fun road trip and cultural education, it was also an opportunity for me to cross out an item on my bucket list - The Obudu Cattle Ranch. So sit back as I serve you the little I can put down from the memories of the trip to Cross River.
The Ugly
For anyone that has travelled on road in Nigeria for more than two hours, you can guess what the worst part of my travel experience is - bad roads. The path that leads to "The Nation's Paradise" would a typical illustration of the popular saying that "the road to Paradise is narrow," but in this case, "the road rough."While the government, don't know which of them, seems to be doing some work on many of the roads, the fact that we spent almost 12 hours on a journey that shouldn't be more than 8 is a major drawback. We were all exhausted by the time we got to the venue of the funeral, making it impossible to stay all night, even for a fun lover like me.
The sight of IDPs and the disturbing story of how the avoidable incident unfolded was another sad part of my journey to Obanliku, Cross River State.
Will be providing "The Good" and "The Bad" of Chronicles of Cross River Experience in subsequent posts.
Meanwhile, kindly note that this is only an individual's view/experience and things might have changed the next time you are visiting "The Nation's Paradise."
