JAPA - When Leaving The Country Becomes The Only Investment

Japa, otherwise known as JP, simply means "escaping" in local parlance. Unfortunately, this term has become increasingly popular in recent times, especially among youths in Nigeria or is it Naija. Gone are the days when people give testimonies on Sunday after getting a visa to the UK or US. However, things have gotten so worse that giving testimonies in church about getting a visa would mean that the pastor will not have a chance to deliver the sermon.

I can't really say why this topic came to mind. It could be due to the fact that almost 4 of my friends already left the country in less than 6 months, some of whom only shared "location" to inform me of the "new dispensation," a term than also become increasingly popular in recent weeks. Or could it be a sign to me...

An international body recently reported that about 50 percent of Nigerian youths want to leave the country. I would quote the report because I think the number is way higher than that and I would say nothing less than 80 percent of Nigerians across all age groups want to "Japa."

Over the year, the patriotic art of me has tried to convince me say "Nigeria go better." However, the pragmatic side keep asking "how long? would this sh** go on?

Aint here to validate any position but really, if all of us japa, wetin go remain and if we no japa how we go remain?

But who do I even know sef
