How A Did Bottle of Groundnut Get To #1k

So I hope this marks my return to blogging, of course I've been writing all this while for clients that pay for blog posts, articles, and press releases. But my recent ordeal at the market kinda spurred me to do this. The price of nomination forms for political offices as put out by the ruling party says a lot about the state of the nation in inflation terms. However, it bothers me more to see that the price of groundnut has gone from #350 to #1k in less than a year.

I somehow followed the rise in the price of groundnut from 3 figures to 4 figures and the seller's reaction at the market when I looked surprised at the new price said it all about how the country has fared in 12 months or less. And do I need to say that I miss the days I could drink the rich man kinda garri with milk, groundnut, and cold water with just #200.

Please my fellow Nigerians, especially the economists amongst us, is there an explanation to how the price of groundnut has done almost 200% rise in 1 year?
