What is the Color of the Direction of the Government?
The confusing nature of the title of this piece says a lot about the state of mind of the writer as it concerns the situation of things in my still beloved Nigeria. Most of us never thought we would be missing Bubu this early into the #RenewedHope dispensation. Something is obviously wrong somewhere, and the President's statement that he spoke offscript was just a red flag for the over 200 million Nigerians that cared to listen.
As I have said earlier, removing the subsidy on PMS was a wrong move. Rather, the government should have fought the corruption in the subsidy payment. Like that wasn't bad enough, the government decided to float an already weak currency without any plans to boost the economy, or at least, that's how it seems so far. The proposal to pay #8k monthly to the most vulnerable Nigerians only further shows how unprepared these guys are to alleviate the suffering of Nigerians. History has shown that cash transfers never work in this clime, especially because the so-called vulnerable Nigerians probably don't even have bank accounts.
Ok, so I would like to assume my ignorance of politics and economics, but how can anyone, anywhere in the world justify the increment in the tuition fees of Unity Schools from #45,000 to #100,000? This is amid one of the most trying times for Nigerians and in a country that is practically losing the battle against out of school kids. According to a report by UNESCO, approximately 20 million Nigerian individuals are not enrolled in school, amounting to 20 percent of the entire population and more than the overall population of various countries in Africa. Need I say more about how bleak the future of the country looks? And to imagine that these "leaders" studied with scholarship home and abroad is even more disturbing.
It is time to put tribe, religion, and any other sentiments that played out during the elections aside and say it as it is or else banditry, kidnapping, and BH go dey learn where the monster we are creating eventually matures.
I weep. But what do I even know sef.

My dear, what do we know??? The country is going down the drain...They said they would hit the ground running but did not tell us the direction they would go... Apparently, they hit the ground running in the wrong direction and they are still running o... God will help Nigerians in this renewed *shege* hope that we are seeing laidis.
