$200 Million - How Much Is A Mosquito Worth?

This question sounds funny even to the "asker." However, the move by the Nigerian government to borrow over #82 billion to purchase mosquito nets and malaria medicine leaves many bemused.

My last post talked about "japa" and stories like this only brings to bear the need to take action with the state looking directionless at the moment. While malaria remains a matter that requires the utmost attention of the government, borrowing to import "nets and medicines" is definitely not the way, at least from the writer's myopic point of view.

If my memory serves me right, the wife of the president, Aisha Buhari, said in 2019 that she is yet to get a net following the $16 million allegedly budgeted for the purchase of mosquito nets. So how will the $200 million help us fight the Almighty malaria.

On the other hand, how much impact would the over #82 billion have on the county's primary health care if it was put into that system. Would it also have made more sense to invest in developing vaccines, especially considering that there was something like that in the University of Ibadan a few years ago.

Abi they should kuku give us $1 each and we go deal with malaria our way for 1 year?
