Nigerian Power Sector - the meat seller that eats bones
Since I was born and now I am getting old, I have never seen a Nigeria with 24 hours power supply. The situation is even more disturbing when we hear that Nigeria supplies other countries that have boasted of regular power supply. I used to think it was a made belief just like the popular Nigeria-India football match that ended in 100-1 in favour of the Indian team. However, the statement from the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission that the republics of Benin, Niger, and Togo owe Nigeria about #30 billion for the electricity supplied to them was a confirmation of the story.
Some quarters would argue that it is all business and the stakeholders in this deal are knelt trying to get the best possible economic value. However, I am more baffled by the fact that the supplier of power, in this case, Nigeria, cannot beat his chest of having an average of 12 hours daily power. Like say that one no pain us reach, these bodies actually have the guts to say that the buyers are owing for the 9 months of power supply. But if we owe NEPA for only one month, dem go cut light carry wire go thru office.
On a lighter note, the money no too plenty na as even the 30 billion gang head can pay it and still collect change.
The revelation is another show of shame or shamelessness by the congregation called "Nigeria." And to think that there is a bill to ban the importation of generator set with a possible penalty of not less than 10 years imprisonment, I Shake My Big Head for Nigeria.
For how long will we continue like this.
Anyways, what do I even know sef.
